Where the River Exe meets the sea, Exmouth has been welcoming visitors for longer than almost anywhere else in Devon. Two miles of golden sand, a long esplanade and red cliffs at the start of the Jurassic Coast make it one of the South West's best-loved seaside towns.
The Exmouth colouring book from Britain in Lines captures its familiar seaside rhythm in calm, considered line work.
About Exmouth
Exmouth is often described as the oldest seaside resort in Devon, with visitors arriving to enjoy the sea air from the 18th century onwards. Its Georgian terraces on the Beacon are a reminder of those early fashionable days.
At the eastern end of the beach, Orcombe Point marks the start of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, where 185 million years of history are written into the cliffs. Back in town, the estuary is a haven for birdwatchers, sailors and watersports fans.
Exmouth landmarks to colour
The Clock Tower
Standing on the seafront, Exmouth's Clock Tower is one of the town's most recognisable landmarks and a favourite meeting point for generations of visitors.
The Lifeboat Station
Exmouth's RNLI station watches over the busy estuary and coast. Lifeboat stations make lovely colouring scenes, with bold shapes and the promise of bright orange and blue.
The Marina
Boats bobbing in the water, waterside homes and the open estuary beyond. The marina is one of the most relaxing scenes in the book.
The Town Hall
A key civic building in the town centre, adding some classic architecture to the coastal scenes.
The Ferry Jetty
From here, the little ferry crosses the Exe to Starcross, a short trip that has been part of Exmouth life for centuries.
Why Exmouth is lovely to colour
Seaside scenes are some of the most joyful to colour. Try sandy golds for the beach, the deep red of the Devon cliffs and soft blues and greens for the estuary. Or go bold and colourful with the boats and beach huts.
