Falmouth is a town built around the sea. Its harbour is one of the deepest natural harbours in the world, and for centuries ships from every corner of the globe have sheltered here. Today it's a lively, creative town of waterfront pubs, galleries, beaches and boats.
The Falmouth colouring book from Britain in Lines captures that maritime character in calm, design-led line work.
About Falmouth
Falmouth's harbour made it one of Britain's most important ports. From the late 17th century it was the home of the Falmouth Packet Service, whose fast ships carried mail and news across the British Empire. It was here that news of the victory at Trafalgar first reached Britain in 1805.
Today, the town's long high street winds along the waterfront, with narrow opes leading down to the water. Its art school and university give Falmouth a creative, youthful energy alongside its deep maritime roots.
Falmouth landmarks to colour
Pendennis Castle
Built by Henry VIII to defend the harbour, Pendennis Castle sits on a headland guarding the entrance to the Fal estuary. Its round keep and sweeping views make it a dramatic page to colour.
The National Maritime Museum Cornwall
With its distinctive tower overlooking the harbour, the museum tells the story of Cornwall's relationship with the sea, from small boats to great voyages.
The Lifeboat Station
Falmouth's RNLI lifeboat keeps watch over one of the busiest stretches of water in Cornwall. A classic coastal scene with bold shapes and colours.
Packet Quays
Named after the famous packet ships, the quays are a reminder of Falmouth's golden age as a mail port, now lined with waterfront homes and boats.
Gardens shaped by the sea
Thanks to its mild climate, Falmouth is surrounded by lush subtropical gardens, full of palms and exotic plants that thrive in the sea air.
Why Falmouth is perfect for colouring
Boats, harbours, castles and gardens give you a rich mix of scenes. Try deep sea blues and greens, bright sails and buoys, and the warm stone of the castle walls.
